DOCHGARROCH PRIMARY SCHOOL

Dochgarroch Primary School is a small rural school situated four miles from Inverness on the A82 Fort William road. The school was first opened in 1875. The school provides bright, comfortable accommodation for pupils within the designated area, which is from the Caledonian Canal to Loch Laide in Abriachan, and from the gates of Craig Dunain Hospital to the Clansman Hotel on Loch Ness side.

There is a current roll of 36 pupils. The stages range from P1 to P7 and are accommodated in two classrooms, taught by two teaching staff. The classes are presently divided into P1-3 and P4-7. A Nursery Unit for 3-4 year old children has been in operation since August 1999 offering five sessions per week.

The atmosphere is friendly.

The school is a focal point of an otherwise scattered community and endeavours to promote a sense of belonging and play an important part in the wider community.

LETTER FROM PUPIL

Dear Parent/Carer

As a pupil, I would like to tell you about our school.

Our school is really eco friendly because we go out every morning to feed the birds, we recycle cans and paper.

We respect others in the school and in the playground especially new people.

The lessons are really fun most of the time because you don’t sit down all of the time and you have lots of fun.

Our teachers are very kind, helpful and very good at teaching.

I hope your child/children will enjoy their new school.

Yours sincerely

Sarah
